Editing an Added Person

You are here:

What happens when you’ve added someone to Reach, and you realize that you’ve made a mistake? Maybe you spelled their last name wrong, or you forgot to enter their address.

Not to worry – you can edit the Name and Address fields of anyone you have personally added to Reach.

First, search for the person who you need to correct or find them in your History on the My Reach Tab, and tap into their profile (if you spelled their name wrong, be sure to search based on your original spelling!). Then, tap the Action Menu icon in the top right corner to display the Action Menu at the bottom of the screen.

If you’re the one who added the person you’re viewing, or if you’re an admin, you will see the Edit Name and Edit Address options in your Action Menu.

A note about editing people in Reach

You can only edit the Name or Address for people that you’ve manually added into Reach (or, a campaign Admin or Owner can edit anyone that any of their users have added). You can’t edit information for any people that are from your campaign’s initial voter file. This is because the voter file electoral campaigns load into Reach is usually real voter data, and editing that data in Reach means there would be a mismatch between data in Reach and that voter file. If someone says their name or address is incorrect in Reach, they’ll have to contact their state’s BOE/SOS office to correct it there.

Edit Name

Tap Edit Name in the Action Menu. This will bring up a new screen that allows you to update: Prefix, First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Suffix, and Preferred Name.

Tapping on Prefix or Suffix will let you choose from a list of common options.

When you’re done editing, tap Save in the top right corner to make sure all of your hard work is locked in!

Edit Address

Tap Edit Address in the Action Menu. This will bring up a new screen that allows you to update: Street Address, Unit/Apartment, City, State, and Zip Code.

As you start to type a street address, you’ll get a little help from Google Auto-complete to make it as easy as possible to get the correct address in there.
